I hope that title has gotten a little attention for those just stumbling through the blogger world. But I do urge you to please read this post. While I do love to blog about fashion and cute boys, I find that having this public domain allows me to bring light to certain issues that desperately need some attention to. One of the issue that I am truly passionate about is advocating for women's rights. Ever since I joined Amnesty International, a worldwide human rights organization, my freshman year of high school, the fight for women's rights has always been a topic that I have a great interest for. Call me a feminist, but in this day and age, women are still being oppressed, abused, neglected, and in some parts of the world enslaved by their male counterparts.
I have been reading this book called Half the Sky written by some of my favorite journalists Nicholas D. Kristof and Sherly WuDunn. (Kristof's articles has a major contributing factor in me wanting to pursue journalism when I grow up.) This book will honestly change the way you view how women are treated around the world. Millions of girls are not only sold to prostitution, they are being treated as second class citizens within their own families. It is literally a "modern-day slavery," as stated in Half the Sky. While some girls are enslaved, others just down right disappear from the population. It is truly an eye-opening manifesto about the ongoings of today's world. And so I urge, whether you know nothing or everything about human rights or women's issues, to PLEASE READ THIS BOOK.

Great review; this sounds like an amazing book. I agree...blogs are like your own personal forum for speaking up for different causes and similar issues. I love the fact that you've taken the opportunity to do just that with this post. I will definitely have to check out this book!! :)
